Meet The Team

Principal Investigator
Dr. Andrew Gibb is the PI of the Gibb Lab within the Center for Cardiometabolic Science at the University of Louisville. He has made seminal discoveries regarding the role of metabolism in cardiovascular disease, fibrosis, the influence of exercise on cardiac metabolism, and cardiac remodeling. Outside of the lab, he loves spending time with his 2 kids and wife and has rediscovered a love of LEGO.

PhD Student
Yu "Nancy" Tian
Nancy obtained her M.S. degree from Minzu University of China in Beijing with a research focus on metabolic diseases. Her PhD studies are focused on understanding whether disruptions in metabolite compartmentalization is a principal driver of cardiovascular health and disease. In her free time, Nancy enjoys watching suspense films and seeking out all kinds of delicious food around Louisville.

Research Technician
Baladileep Annapureddy
Dileep joined the lab in October 2025 after obtaining his M.S in Molecular and Development Biology from Rutgers University. Dileep helps to manage the day-to-day laboratory operations. His research contributions to the lab is currently assisting in all aspects of the lab and works to develop new protocols and keeps the lab afloat. In his free time, Dileep loves to read and watch anime.

Medical Student (M3) - Distinction in Research Track
Christine Chen
Christine is an M2 at the University of Louisville. She joined the lab in the summer of 2025 supported by a T35 training grant. She is currenlty helping out on several projects in the lab and is currently interested in understanding how modulating cardiac metabolism can impact energy metabolism and heart failure outcomes. In her free time, Christine is an avid runner, enjoys playing video games, and watching F1.

Undergraduate Researcher
Ryli Bulla
Ryli is a senior majoring in biochemistry and currently working in the lab as an undergraduate research assistant. She is interested in understanding how metabolic pathways are regulated and impacted by physiological stress, such as exercise. Ryli has enjoyed her time in the lab so much she is now looking to pursue a PhD next year in the lab. Outside of the lab, Ryli enjoys playing volleyball and discovering new spots around Louisville.

MD/PhD Student (M1)
Peyton Kochert
Peyton earned an BS in Biology from Purdue University and joined the MD/PhD at UofL in 2026. Her research interests focus on cardiovascular health and disease, with an emphasis on prevention and intervention strategies. She is passionate about advancing research that bridges basic science and clinical medicine. Outside of the lab, Peyton enjoy exercising, running, spending time outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
