Dr. Gibb organizes the Inaugural ISHR-NAS ECI Winter Webinar
December 4, 2025
Dr. Gibb organized a Winter Webinar Series for early career investigators who are members of the North American section of the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR). Oral presentations from selected abstracts of PhD students and Post-doctoral Fellows were delivered in a Webinar with the top presentations provided Travel Awards to attend the 2026 ISHR-NAS conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A great turnout, great presentations, and congrats to the winners!

Undergraduate Researcher Ryli Bulla Joins Team Gibb

Welcome to Ryli Bulla, an undergraduate researcher at UofL, to the Gibb Lab. Ryli is interested in exploring scientific research as she finishes up her Junior year as a Biochemistry Major. I am looking forward to mentoring and working with her during the remainder of her undergraduate studies.
3rd place finish for Nancy at
Research Louisville Conference
October 13-17, 2025
The Lab was well represented at the annual Research Louisville Conference. Nancy presented a poster on her thesis work related to metabolic regulation of fibroblast differentiation and won 3rd place honors! Christine presented a poster on her summer T35-funded research project which garnered much interest from the judges and participants. Congrats Nancy and Christine!


Welcome Baladileep Annapureddy!

The Lab added a new staff position, as Dileep joined the team as a Research Assistant. Dileep has experience in microscopy, animal handling, and transcriptional and translational regulatory mechanisms. We are excited to have him part of the Gibb Lab.
Welcome Christine Chen!

The Lab welcomes Christine Chen, an M2 medical student, to the team. Christine completed a summer research internship through an NIDDK funded T35 training grant and was recently accepted into the Research Distinction Track for the remainder of her medical school studies. Congrats Christine, excited to have you a part of the team!
Dr. Gibb Delivers a Talk at AHA BCVS Conference
July 23-26, 2025
Dr. Gibb attended the Basic Cardiovascular Sciences (BCVS) Scientific Sessions annual research conference. Dr. Gibb was kept busy during this conference as he moderated a session on "The Age of Metabolism" and met with several graduate and postdoctoral trainees in one-on-one mentoring sessions. Dr. Gibb also was an invited speaker, presenting on "Glutamine Metabolism in Cardiac Pathological Remodeling and the Fibrotic Response". What a great conference!


Yu "Nancy" Tian Joins the Lab as the 1st PhD Student

Nancy joined the lab as Dr. Gibb's first PhD student in May of 2025. Her interests lie in understanding how metabolism contributes to cardiovascular health and disease. The Lab is looking forward to all the exciting things she will do during her studies!

Dr. Gibb attended and presented at the North American Section of the International Academy of the Cardiovascular Sciences on "Targeting Glutamine Metabolism in the Pathogenesis of Heart Failure".
Dr. Gibb appointed to the AHA BCVS Communications Committee
June 1, 2024
Dr. Gibb was nominated to become a member on the AHA BCVS Communications Committee. He will serve on this Committee for the next 2 years.
Dr. Gibb Attends the ISHR-NAS 2024 Meeting in Long Beach, CA and is elected to the Early Career Committee!

The ISHR has become a home conference for the Lab due to the strong science and committment to fostering the development of early career investigators. Dr. Gibb chaired an early career session during the conference. He was also elected as a member of the Early Career Committee for the next 3 years. Congrats Dr. Gibb!

Dr. Gibb attended and gave an oral presentation on his work at the Cardiac Regulatory Mechanisms GRC. The conference was fantastic and will become a regularly attended meeting for the Lab!
Gibb Lab Opens its Doors!

The Gibb Lab officially opened its doors. Dr. Gibb was recruited back to the University of Louisville to begin his independent research lab in the Center for Cardiometabolic Science. We are so excited to for all that is to come!
